02/11/06: just like every year, the European Awards from MTV are there. This time from Copenhagen. Several feeds have been spotted, two of them being HD quality.
This year's event wasn't properly live, it was 25 minutes shifted.
On some of the localized MTV versions subtitles have been added, on MTV France a voice-over for translation. All this for such difficult english language phrases such as "I really want to thank MTV and all the people who supported me" or "Oh my God, I won, I really wasn't expecting this!". Probably the worst european awards ever seen. The only deserved award was also the only criticized one, when the award for best video went to Justice & Simian for their "We Are Your Friends" video and suddenly Kanye West appeared on stage to protest for not winning the award himself, admitting he has no idea of who Justice & Simian are.
And the most funny moment of the event was certainly when Madonna was made a figure of fun by comedian Avid Merrion with his "Bung Up", being dressed up as Madonna in the 'Hung Up' video, wearing a very particular mask on his face and surrouned by "her" e-babies! For some reasons this part of the show was only broadcast live and disappeared from the repeats. Who knows... Maybe Madonna was not that happy about it!
And after all, the awards are still the awards!
